The PIPA Institute was born from Roberto Vinhaes desire to contribute to the third sector.

Seeing that there were few institutions dedicated to contemporary Brazilian art, Vinhaes created the PIPA Institute (formerly known as Instituto IP).

PIPA Global Investments is the main partner of the PIPA Institute.

The PIPA Prize, the main initiative of the PIPA Institute, is an annual award and, through partnerships, held its exhibitions of the finalists at Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro (MAM-Rio), from 2010 to 2018; and in 2019, at Villa Aymoré, In 2020, the partnership was made with Paço Imperial to be the venue for this year’s exhibition, but due to the Covid-19  this had to be postponed.
